Biggest hit by a Flower Power 2002 act: "My Sharona" by The Knack was a megahit - No. 1 for six weeks; the top song of 1979.

Gary Lewis & The Playboys hit No. 1 with their first charting song, "This Diamond Ring." While it was their biggest hit, they were anything but one-hit wonders: Their next six charting songs during nearly a year and a half all climbed into the Top 10.

Mickey Thomas joined Starship in 1979, replacing Jefferson Airplane original Marty Balin. With Thomas doing vocal work, Starship had its greatest commercial success from 1985 to 1987 - 20 years and more after the group's genesis.
